My Exercise Equipment

My doctor advised me to slim down. I'm obese, a bit on the fat side, but i'm exercising. Need to change my lifestyle, my food intake (huh?) and do more exercising, beside taking my regular medicine to lower down my blood pressure (Micardis 40mg), to reduce my cholesterol (Lipaco 20mg) and to protect my liver (Livolin). My blood pressure is at 130/80 while my sugar level is at around 6 (after food). Not bad!

To catch up with my few years back, New Year Resolution, to exercise more, i've bought the following sports equipment, a training shoe, Nike Xccelerator TR (RM199) and a 26' mountain bike, Nexus XDS 1.0 with front suspension (RM500). The cheapest option for me instead of joining a sport club or gym with personal trainer.

I believe in my own will power! I will go for an hour walking/bicycling around my area daily at 8.00 pm and will go for a 2 hour round on every Sunday, morning.

Micardis 40mg for hypertension

My company's panel doctor has prescribed Micardis 40 mg to treat my hypertension with effect from 17 January, 2008.

Gout

I can't go to work on Wed, 9 Jan 08 as i have been attacked by GOUT! My left leg's big toe and my sole near to the big toe were swollen, red and hot! It is very painful and i can't walk. Gout occurs due to built-up of uric acid in my blood and my body unable to eliminate the extra uric acid. Maybe i have eaten too many foods contained purine. Went to see my Company's panel doctor near my home and was prescribed famotidine and diclofenac sodium to reduce acidity and inflammatory. I was given a day off by the doctor.

Later, in the evening I went to seek a licensed Chinese traditional medicine practitioner and the treatment he gave me is quite straightforward. He just pricked on the area which were swollen, and use a suction cup to suck out the blood which contained uric acid. After completion, i was so relieved that the pain has gone! But you have to bear the pain when he pricks on the swollen toe.

I hereby announced to the world at large that on September 9, 1999, i've pledged to donate after my death, all organ and tissues, including of kidneys, heart, liver, lungs, eyes, bones and skin, may be removed for the purposes of transplantation.

I was 34 then and healthy!

After 8 years later, now, i'm, scare and worry that all my organ and tissues may not be that healthy anymore to be donated.

My blood type is under ABO Group "O" and Rhesus (D) Positive.

Must get my doctor to analyse it.

I'm on 5mg of Lisinopril and 50mg of Atenolol to control my hypertension.

Omron R7 Blood Pressure monitor

I got a new toy! An automatic wrist blood pressure monitor (Omron R7) to monitor my blood pressure. Well, as advertised, Omron is a trusted worldwide brand. This unit witha position sensor which determines the optimal wrist position for measurement. It can memorise 90 sets of readings. It is compact and lighweight, which i can take it with me when i'm going outstation.

Hmm, my latest reading, 141/89 and pulse 88. OMG, I'm on the borderline! Must measure it daily.

SNE Kintop Capsule

My youngest sister is concern on my figure. Yes, based on international standard of measurement, I am obese.

Every beginning of the year I always make my new year resolution to reduce my weight but ....

As all Penangites will tell you that Penang food is the best, my intake of calories thru food exceeded the burn out rate! I've tried exercising but due to my tight work schedule, I always skip the exercising part.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL)

Just had a lithotripsy, i.e a simple procedure using extracorporeal shock wave, to pulverise/blast my kidney stones on February 27, 2006 at a private hospital in Penang. I was relief as it is non-surgical or need to plucked out through a tube threaded through the ureter!

But today, StarMag under Fit for Life section reported that a study in the May issue of the Journal of Urology on "lithotripsy recipients were nearly 4 times more likely to have diabetes and 50% more apt to have hypertension than were those not exposed to the shock-wave technology"

OMG! How come my doctor did not advise me on the consequences? Can't do much. He has migrated to Australia.
