No More Morning Traffic Jam
With the recent opening of the Jelutong Highway to Weld Quay section, we can kiss the morning traffic jam goodbye! Now it takes me about 15 minutes from my office in Weld Quay to my apartment at Gelugor. No more trafic jam excuse when i'm late for work!
I can foresee that with the opening of the Jelutong Highway, the properties around Gelugor will definetely appreciate. It is very convenient for Gelugor people to move to/fro town and mainland and time taken less than 15 minutes!
Happy Monday

Affordable Authentic Japanese Cuisine from Rakuya
I was there on June 24, 2006 together with some friends. As usual, i ordered grill salmon set. It was prepared by the main chef, Shingo Kosaka from Japan. The salmon skin was grilled until crispy while the meat still was juicy.
The restaurant was not full due to the after lunch hour. Was told by my friend that the place is packed during lunch and dinner time!

Salted Fish Pickles by Kathleen Rodrigues
The only food worth mentioning and in my opinion, special, that you can find at the Famous Street Food Fest is the Eurasian Specialty Food by Rozells!
One major legacy of the Portuguese, the first of the European colonial settlement in Malacca, was the emergence of a unique community. A century and a half of intermarriages between Portuguese settlers and local women, led to the a mixed race of European Asian, Eurasians. This community of Portuguese Eurasians adopted the religion, language, custom and culture of the Portuguese and also it's cuisine, hence Eurasian Food.
They have traditional Eurasian dishes like sugee cake, tarts, sambal tumis sandwich, cream horns, pineapple pie and salted fish pickles.
First time, i heard of salted fish pickles and has not hesitate to buy and try it.
Salted fish similar to Bacalao or Salt Cod - is pickled in a blend of garlic, ginger, vinegar, spices and tamarind. It's usually served as an appetizing chutney or accompaniment to a meal.

Sataymen
Ya, my favourite sataymen, i.e 'Satay TOS' from Jelutong, they operate at a stall in front of the Mobil Station and Public Bank, was at the Famous Street Food Fest also.
Without hesitation, i ordered half a dozen, 3 sticks each of the chicken and beef satay.
Famous Street Food Fest @ Upper Penang Road
The only different for this food fest is the 'branding' i.e the ever 'famous' food.
When you are in Penang, you will notice that all the hawkers stall name started with "Famous" then followed by maybe the location or the type of food!
Notice
I am wondering if i have finished my business should i throw the used toilet paper in the rubbish bin as advised by the notice.
